A major window replacement project is under-way at South Manchester’s University Hospital which has seen the installation of over 800 high performance, UPVC double glazed windows. The award winning hospital has been recognised for its efforts towards energy efficiency and sustainability.

 As part of the improvements Spectus Elite 70 profile window systems were used for the refurbishment which has included production of a green foiled PVC-U porch for the front elevation of the out-patients department. This will be installed in the spring when the new hospital reception, complete with self-check in facilities is opened.

 UHSM is the greenest hospital in the UK and as such demands glazing products that exceed expectations of thermal efficiency and noise reduction. It was therefore imperative to use double glazing window systems, that could deliver an A-rating and U-values as low as 0.8W/[m2K]. Saint-Gobain’s Planitherm Argon gas filled glass was used, giving optimum in-life performance.
